Many people want to know what is the right THC to CBD ratio for their cannabis products.
A THC to CBD ratio is the relationship between how much THC and CBD is contained in a cannabis product.
There are 4 main categories of cannabis products:
1. Pure CBD products – these are your CBD isolates, just pure CBD. We don’t recommend these because although they can have some value, you don’t get an entourage effect when you use them since it’s only CBD and no other cannabinoids, terpenes, or flavonoids.
2. CBD dominant products – mostly CBD with a little bit of THC. Best example is a full plant extract CBD hemp oil which cannot contain more than 0.3% THC by law. A common ratio for a CBD dominant product is 20:1 CBD:THC. These are the best products to start with if you are new to cannabis.
3. Equal parts THC and CBD. These are 1:1 products. These products have equal parts THC to CBD. These products are psychoactive since they have a significant amount of THC. These products usually come from marijuana. This ratio is ideal for pain since THC and CBD enhance one another for pain relief.
4. THC dominant products – mostly THC products with a little bit of CBD. These are psychoactive products made from marijuana.
When deciding what kind of ratio to use, you need to keep in mind whether you are okay with the psychoactivity of THC. And you need to consider the legality of THC where you live. You also need to consider drug tests since THC is tested for. CBD dominant products will not make you fail a drug test so long as you are not taking them in high doses (100 mg + CBD).
If you are not experienced with cannabis, you may want to start with a CBD dominant product and work your way up to a product with more THC.
At a bare minimum, we recommend you start with a full plant extract CBD hemp oil. This will be a full plant extract that will provide you with an entourage effect since it will contain a small amount of THC. A full plant extract CBD hemp oil is superior to a CBD isolate product which contains only CBD and no other beneficial compounds.
Keep in mind that THC and CBD work best together than when used apart in isolation. THC + CBD outperform THC or CBD alone. This is why some people choose to use a CBD dominant product during the day, and an equal parts THC to CBD product at night. This strategy allows them to be clear headed during the day and get the benefits of THC at night. Consider this strategy!
